11th Small Stages Festival - Festival Awards
The professional jury of the Festival declared the Bulgarian title "Gledaloto or The Eternal Balkan Inn" of the new drama theatre "Tears and Laughter" from Sofija the Best Show of the Festival. Bojko Bogdanov was presented with the Best Director award for his direction of the play "Gledaloto". The Best Male Role award went to Krešimir Mikić for his role in the play "Our Town" of the Zagreb Youth Theatre, while Kristina Krepela, actress in the same play, was awarded as the Young Actress. Milada Kalezič was presented with the award for the Best Female Leading Role in the play "Fat Men in Skirts" of the Maribor SNG. Pia Zemljič, actress in the same play, was awarded as the Best Supporting Actress. The jury awarded Bela Pinter for Script in the play "The Bakony Hospital" of the Theatre from Budapest; the award for Scenic Design went to Večeslav Parapanov ("Gledaloto"); the award for Costumes to Petja Stojkova ("Gledaloto") and for Scenic Music to Bojko Bogdanov ("Gledaloto"). The award for Scenic Light Design was not presented.
The professional jury of the Festival: Meta Hočevar, director and scenic designer, Ljubljana, Slovenia, Helena Buljan, theatre actress, Zagreb, Aljoša Vučković, theatre actor, Belgrade, Serbia, Lary Zappia, director, Toronto, Canada and Rijeka, Željka Turčinović, playwright, Zagreb.
The Novi list Festival jury, consisting of Zlatka Zubanović, Svjetlana Hribar and Miljenko Marin, decided to present the Slovenian actress Pija Zemljič with the Mediteran award for her role of Pam and Popo Martin in the play "Fat men in Skirts" from Maribor.
During the Festival audience saw nine performances from Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro, Russia and Bulgaria. With the mark 4.78/5 the audience voted as the best show the production "Marat and Marquis de Sade" in the direction of Jurij Ljubimov and performed by the company of the "Theatre on Taganka" from Moscow. According to the audience's votes the second place went to the Bulgarian production "Gledaloto" and the third to the SNG Maribor title "Fat Men in Skirts".
